When I paint, I often amaze myself. Sometimes I have to sneak up on my painting and take a quick peek. Did I really paint that? It can be so exciting and rewarding. Then other times I think, did I really paint that????? And my scrap pile has gained another piece of paper. Between successes and failures, a rewarding journey is taking place for me. It's not always the final result, but what I 'm learning along the way.Ever since I can remember I've loved art. After the birth of my two sons, I was lucky enough to be a stay at home Mom. I started painting every wall in our home with some sort of faux finish. Next I started painting and selling children's furniture, although the extra inventory was a little difficult to store. Then one day it hit me. I was watching Oprah (a little daily ritual for stay at home moms), when she was encouraging some mothers to pursue their dreams now, not to wait until their children were grown. I had always wanted to take some watercolor classes. So, I got right up and signed up for my first watercolor class. I have had the opportunity to train with some excellent artists. Carol Worlock, Jim Peterson, Roger Mordhorst, Jane Friday and most recently, I traveled To Creede Colorado to attend a Steve Quiller workshop I am a member of the Louisville Art Association and received a 1st place ribbon in their 2002 Annual Members Show, and 1st place and Peoples Choice Award in their 2003 Annual Members show. In 2004 I received 2nd place, a Merit Award and People's Choice Award. I also have my art work displayed in local businesses in Louisville, Superior, and Boulder. I am also a member of the Boulder Art Association, Colorado Watercolor Society and the American Watercolor Society. I donate 20% of my sales to Oprah's "Angel Network." |
